NEWS & NOTES FOR OCTOBER 2012
Where has the summer gone. Here we are in week #5 of our first session and skills are just getting stronger and more intense. Strength is the key to the success of gymnasts. Stop in and take a look at our fitness studio.
Fitness By Design was developed to aid our students in their gymnastics skills, while also providing an opportunity for parents to get stronger and healthier as they wait for their children to finish class. The TRX system is in place and the group training sessions will be posted soon.
Rebekah Peterson, our on-staff athletic trainer, will help you design a program specific for you. Take a look at our attached brochure and then come on in for your consultation. Cost is affordable and the time commitment is based on your schedule. Check it out and let us know when you would like to start.
Priority registration is the week of October 22nd. This is the only time a discount will be offered for the next session. Mark your calendars so you can sign up for the next session at a savings.
Birthday Parties are still the best at Head Over Heels. 1-1/2 hours of fun that is easy for you, the parent. We do all the work, we set up, we clean, we manage the entire party. You bring the cake, the kids, the camera and we do the rest. Call us to be penciled in for your birthday time.
Exciting news !! Middlebury Fitness has extended the opportunity to us to bring tumbling and gymnastics to their studio on Sunday mornings. 9am for parent child, ages 2 to 3 and 10am for ages 4 to 6. Call us for details on pricing and dates.
And lastly, we have exciting news of yet another class being offered at Head Over Heels. We will be offering introductory classes in Tae Kwon Do on Friday nights from 6:30p to 7:15pm, before Friday night open gym. Take a look below for information:
Tae Kwon DoTrial Class
For 3 weeks only, Oct. 5th, 12th and 19th!!!
Head Over Heels Gym will be offering trial classes in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do, led by professional Tae Kwon Do instructor Zack Black. Classes will be on Friday @ 6:30-7:15pm right before Open Gym. These trial classes will focus on the basic skills of Tae Kwon Do such as: self defense, basic blocks, kicks, punches, falling techniques, and more. The skills that you will learn and develop through taking these classes will help not only in every other sport you may participate in be it gymnastics or cheer leading, but will benefit you in life by making you mentally and physically strong. Aside from the obvious benefit of physical fitness, these classes will help build and develop life long skills, the most important of these aspects being, self confidence, discipline, respect, concentration, and perseverance.
$15 for gym members and stay for open gym free of charge!
$20 for non members and stay for open gym free of charge!
Parents come in with your child and pay only $10 per family member!
So come on in, meet Zack, check out the class, learn to defend yourself, and have fun doing it! Registration for the full 6-week program will be the week of October 22nd with classes starting in November.
A little about Zack Black
Zack began taking TKD classes at the age of 6. A hyper young child that he was, he advanced through the martial art and received his Black Belt at the age of 8. By age 10 he had received his 2nd degree black belt and was teaching classes by himself to students of all ages. By the time he was 13 he received his 3rd degree Black Belt and was one of the head instructors at Master An's Tae Kwon Do in Bedford, NH. Throughout his martial arts career he has earned countless gold, silver, and bronze medals at tournaments all across the greater New England area. He became the leader of the Demo Team at Master An's which specialized in advanced skill demonstrations ranging from tumbling, power breaking, synchronized team forms, and weapons. He also received his black belt in the style of Hapkido, which focuses on grappling, throws, and using an opponent’s own force against them. It is now Zack's goal to pass on what he has learned through his 13 years of experience to any who have the desire to learn.
Our gym is continually evolving and we really appreciate your comments and suggestions as to our changes. Without you we would not be the success we are. We are now in our 17th year of business and are looking forward to planning our 20th Anniversary in 2016. Thanks so much for all your support!!
Enjoy our beautiful fall weather which we are so proudly displaying right now. Vermont is truly in its splendor, tapping into all our senses. It’s here for such a short moment of time, may we all take a few seconds out of our day to appreciate its glory. Apple picking, corn mazes, pumpkin carving, Art in the Park, leaf piles, haunted houses, and on and on and on. We are so blessed to live in this beautiful state.
