News & Notes for October

Post date: Dec 8, 2011 8:09:51 PM

Hi Everyone,

It has been so great to see everyone again, and a big Welcome back to all who endured storm Irene. The students are all doing very well, progressing thru their skills faster than ever before. Starting next week we will be reintroducing the Skill Charts which will allow us to work with each of the students toward mastering their own individual goals. We have seen great progress in the strength area of each of the students as well, which will give them more power to perform their gymnastics skills. And please keep us updated on any suggestions you may have, compliments or complaints, so that we can continue to improve our program for you and your child.

Topics of interest for October:

Skill Clinic – The 5pm Skill Clinic on Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri has shown some amazing results. Students are mastering their own particular skills each week as they are working the whole half hour to find that one piece that was missing which progresses them to the next level. Anyone wishing to drop in can do so for a fee of $7. The remaining clinics are;

Week #7 Balance Beam Skills & Drills

Week #8 Tips & Drills: How to become a Stronger Gymnast & Tumbler

Week #9 A closer look at the Bars & Beam

Week #10 Balance Beam Work

Week #11 Cross Pad Tumbling

Week #12 Review of Past Skill Clinics (What do you want to work on)

4/5 Level 1 class – The Friday 4pm Level 1 class with 4 and 5 year olds was opened to allow those students that were ready for more challenge and a truer sense of gymnastics skills. We are seeing great development and strength along with a better understanding of the gymnastics skills in all the children in that class. This is a new class for us here at HOH so we too have been growing and learning with the students. So far, it has been awesome. The self esteem and self confidence that has shown itself in just 6 weeks is phenomenal. If you have a child that is 4 ½ or close to 5 that has been doing gymnastics for awhile and you feel they are ready for this next challenge, please let us know. We would love to open another class in Session II, and can also find room on Fridays at 4pm for a couple more students.

Halloween Sleepover – Our Annual Halloween Sleepover will be Friday night, October 21st from 7pm to 8am (Sat. morning). Ages 5 and up are welcome. We’ll be having games, snacks, gym circuits, scavenger hunts, story telling, movies and lots and lots of fun food and snacks. Please sign up by Wed, Oct 19th. Price is $35 / child which includes open gym from 7pm to 9pm.

Preschool Halloween Party – Our Halloween Preschool Open Gym Party will be Saturday night, October 22nd from 4 to 6pm. Come on in, bring your costume, and enjoy some Halloween goodies, movies, and music. We will have our inflatables open and gym circuits for your fun. Snack and craft tables will also be here for your enjoyment. Admission price is $12 / child or $10 with a food or bedding donation to the Rutland County Humane Society. (Last time I checked a few weeks ago, bedding was really low along with cat litter.) Any donation, small or large is welcome. Look forward to seeing you here.

Fusion Fitness -- Amy Lewis is adding classes to her Tuesday night program. On both Tuesdays and Thursdays you can find Amy getting her groove on at 4pm with a Zumba class. At 5pm she will take you thru a Better Bodies program and at 5:30pm she continues her program with Full Body Conditioning. Stop in and see Amy. Please continue to fill out the surveys and send your feedback to her or the gym as she is always looking to build her program and wants to meet your individual needs along the way.

Preregistration for Winter – It’s sad to say, but winter is coming soon and our Winter Session will begin on December 5th. Priority Registration for this next session is the week of November 7th. That will be the only time to receive 10% off your class price. Anyone with a Fall Session balance, please clear it by then so the discount can apply.

Home School Open Gym – The next Home School Open gym will be October 24th from 1:30pm to 3. Price is $10 / child. Drop-ins are welcome.

New classes – Keep your eyes and emails open as we are eagerly listening to your wants and needs and are trying very hard to fit in those classes and open gyms you are looking for. In particular, Preschool open gyms and an indoor playground will be announced before the winter session begins. Please keep those ideas coming.
